Hiring cheap freelance writers to write high-quality content is a gamble that many people choose to take. However, the results are devastating. And, it can lead to loss of both time and money.

For businesses, the most important aspect of having a marketing strategy relies on content creation. Without great content, brands can’t retain their targeted audience effectively.

Many brands try to outsource the content via a freelance writer if they are new in the industry. But, if your plans are ambitious, you need writers who are proficient and have years of expertise.

That way, brands can leverage their content marketing efforts. Moreover, the process of recruiting in-house staff takes some time. Going with freelance writers seems an obvious choice.

In this post, I have tried to highlight my take on why hiring cheap freelance writers might not be a good idea.

Cheap freelance writers are always busy

To begin with, cheap freelance writers work with many clients at lower rates. In short, they need to compensate the low price with the volume of work. Most of the time, they have little idea about the topic. And, they aren’t willing to explore the depths of it.

As a result, they are unaware of the fact that thorough research is needed to craft a target-oriented piece. And, they end up rewriting from a few websites that appear on the first page of the search results.

So, what happens next? The writing won’t provide value to the readers. That’s because it has nothing to do with the topic assigned to the writers in the first place.

Low-cost freelance writers won’t learn new things

It happens all the time that even after providing a detailed outline about the topic, writers don’t adhere to the instructions. And, come up with their versions.

Moreover, cheap freelance writers need work in huge quantities to compensate for their low rates. But that doesn’t mean they should learn something new.

The writing industry is saturated and the only way to steer your boat through the rough waves is to improve your writing skills.

If you are a beginner writer, it’s fine to take up lots of work from different clients at the same time. But as you advance through your career, you should improve your writing skills. And, take limited work to provide the best to your clients.

That way, you can flourish in this industry. While the transition from low-standard bulk work to high-quality limited work might be a difficult one, it will give you results in the long run.

Keep in mind that your clients have invested time and money to hire you. So, it’s your foremost duty to provide them with what they want.

A healthy relationship with your clients means more work for you. And, you don’t want to compromise that with poorly written articles.

The whole freelance culture has to change for good

When clients are dealing with a flawed freelance writing system, the chances of having high-quality articles are less. It seems, the whole system needs renovation.

Low-cost freelance content writers care more about the quantity of work instead of quality. The volume of work balances their low rates. So, the more clients they serve in a short time, the more are their chances of earning more.

Now you can understand why these writers spend less time on researching and editing. For niche topics, a writer should have proficiency in that area. Unfortunately, cheap content writers don’t have expertise in them.

And, they approach the subject in the same way they write about other topics. For example, if a brand wants them to write for their SaaS product, these writers end up writing content similar to an item description.

Moreover, many content agencies take work on lower rates and pass those to writers willing to do that with even lower rates. Now, you can guess about the quality of the content these super cheap writers deliver.

Apart from cheap content agencies and freelance writers, numerous clients want to get the job done with very little effort. These clients don’t want high-quality articles.

They focus on the SEO text so that they can rank their website. The demerits are that no one will read their content from beginning to end or share the post.

Finally, freelance writers will continue to write low-grade content until the demand ends.

Conclusion

The sole purpose of this post is to understand the problem whenever someone hires a cheap freelance writer. However, if your demand for the content is not high, cheap freelance writers can be of real help.

But if you are looking for well-researched and high-quality content, it is unwise to work with low-cost freelance content writers.

It is like spending your effort and money only to get dissatisfied.

With more competition in the online market, brands need to pay more for well-researched content.  Freelance writers with strong research skills and niche expertise are not easy to find.

So, their services are never going to be cheaper.
